Photography Walls

Hello there lovelies!

For the longest time i've wanted a wall filled with different sized photographs and quotes, much like this:

I'd mix it up with some mirrors and I think i'd have some colour in there, though I really do like the black and white/sepia theme in that photo.

I thought i'd share with you some of the photos and photo styles that i'd want to have up on my wall. Maybe i'll do a post another time with the quotes and mirrors! :)

The photos below aren't mine and the links to the source of each one is under the photos.

I'm a real sucker for a sunset. I can just look at photos like this and imagine myself sat on a beach wrapped up in a blanket watching the sun go down listening to two door cinema club and the thought of all that just makes me so happy.

I would have to have a photo of the Eiffel Tower on my wall. I have such fond memories of Paris, even though I was ill the last time I went, it will always have a place in my heart as one of my favourite places, it's such a beautiful city.

The architecture is beyond amazing, and there's just such a wonderful vibe to the city. I definitely walked around in awe. I definitely want to go back many, many times in the future.

I had the best holiday of my life when I stayed in New York City the summer before last. Call me a googly eyed tourist, but honestly it was so much more than I expected.

The first day walking around I fell in love. I would absolutely love to live here for a while, even if just for a year. It's just one of those places you walk around and think, yeah, this feels right.

It's just the mix of people you see. Tourists in their I heart NY t-shirts, and the business men and women in their suits, runners in their gym gear, and then people like me just walking round amazed by how tall everything is.

A lot of things went wrong for me after I got back from new york, and whilst everything is better than ever now, when I was in that down time I could always look back to how amazing those three weeks were, and it's a time I really appreciate, and I have such good memories with my family there.

So that's why I need NYC on my wall!

This one is pretty self explanatory and follows on from my other New York photos. I saw my first baseball game at Yankee Stadium and I was sold, it really is the best game.

So much team spirit and so much fun to watch. I definitely want reminders on how amazing that day was!

I love Vegas. Some parts are tacky, and some parts are amazing.

Again, part of the most amazing holiday, but one of my favourite places to travel now. I went to the best asian restaurant in the Venetian called Tao, which is also a nightclub I believe, but the food was so so good.

I was only there for 3 days, but it was just such a good 3 days. It's a holiday I want to remember forever (broken record I know) but so many good memories.

I would, of course, need a photo of my favourite flowers in the whole world. Peonies.

This one was taken in a Parisian market. Aren't they just the most beautiful flowers? I've loved them ever since I was a little girl.

No one has ever bought me peonies *cue worlds tiniest violin* so until they do, a photo on my wall will have to do!

I love beach huts. Always have, always will. There's just something so serene about a row of beach huts at the seaside. They are adorable, and they just make me happy.

I plan to live by a beach one day soon, so hopefully i'll be seeing a lot more of these!

I just want photos that are either of things I love (i'd also include a lot of family and friends) or ones that remind of places i've been and the memories that come with them.

I couldn't find a good one, but i'd love a photo of a quadracycle. When we were in California we drove down the west coast, and in one of the towns we stopped off in, me, my sister and my parents drove one along the beach front and it was so. much. fun.

If you get the chance to ride one, do it!

If you had a photo wall what would you include on yours?

Would you have photos of things you love, places you've been, or would you prefer paintings from your favourite artists?

For The Office - Rose Gold

Hey there lovelies,

If you're anything like me, you'll constantly be looking for accessories for your rooms, or planning on  re-decorating completely.

I've had the biggest obsession with rose gold and copper since around christmas time, and it seems everyone else has too!

There are so many cute rose gold and copper things that you can get for your office right now, so I thought i'd share some of my favourites with you, as well as a few inspirational photos i've been loving too!

How cute is this copper vase with white peonies in!? Peonies have been my favourite flowers ever since I was a little girl and I would walk past my neighbour's garden full of them with my mum. I would love to have a vase like this on a little table by a window or mirror in my office.

one | two

I really like these two, the tall one for longer stems and the mason jars if you just use the heads of the flowers :) The first one is from Oliver Bonas, there are so many cute things on their website I want so much! The mason jars are from Etsy, and doesn't everyone love Etsy?!

one | two

Both of these are from Kate Spade at Selfridges and are so pretty. I'm loving perspex and acrylic accessories at the moment, i've been investing in some clear drawers for my make up and I love them.  The hint of rose gold keeps it subtle but still beautiful, I definitely want both of these!

There are so many cute rose gold notebooks and other stationery, I get so carried away with it! I don't know why, but i've always loved the start of a new year/term at school/sixth form/uni as it means I can buy all new folders books and new things for my pencil case. I still get them when a new term starts, but I like the excuse of just having them around for my office too!

How adorable is this letter holder from CB2?? I wish it was in England i'd be buying this tonight. I'd probably use it to organise different note cards for my statistics equations for uni, but it would make them look so nice, maybe it would inspire me to write them!

Of course no office would be complete without an inspirational quote of some sort in foil on the wall! I really like this one, she believed she could so she did. Reminds you that if you put your mind to it, and really believe in yourself, you can do anything you want to, and achieve anything you set out to!

That's just a few of the things that i've been loving. I can't wait to decorate my own office in gold, white and rose gold, so pretty.

Are you loving the rose gold and copper trend?

Blogmas Day Seven: Christmas Table Decor

Hey guys!

Today I thought i'd share with you a few ideas for some christmas table decorations! Each year I get to help set up and buy things for our christmas table, and I just love it so much. Setting out cute little place cards for your family with little table presents and crackers and then you can put out mini christmas trees, and arrange the centrepieces all cute with fairy lights and mini baubles!

One of my absolute favourite things we have for this year are these adorable little napkin rings from John Lewis:
You can find them here and at only £8 for four, they are an absolute bargain! So cute! There are so many good choices out there, these are a few others that I come across that I liked too:

1- John Lewis | 2 - House of Fraser | 3 - Marks and Spencer | 4 - Debenhams | 5 - John Lewis
6 - Tesco | 7 - Amazon | 8 - Amara | 9 - Matalan

Centrepieces can be so simple and yet so effective. I love this one:

Candles, wreaths and pine cones can be so easy to get hold of, and they make such a lovely centrepiece. It just looks inviting and really makes the whole table seem christmassy. Perfect for those that don't like their tables to be too busy!

This one has a similar feel with the candles and pinecones but also has holly and parts of the pine tree too. The tall glasses with candles in can block the view across the table, so would look best on a long table, as no one would be able to see each other on a small one! I like how simple and elegant this looks.

I also love the little table present boxes! We used to make our own crackers with personalised presents in for a few years, but we do table presents now instead (though our boxes are usually smaller than these!) I think it's just such a nice touch. You can still use crackers so that you can have the excellent paper hats to wear as you eat, but it can be so nice to find a little something to just give each person before they eat, we usually find keyrings or novelty USBs or something similar that represents that person's' hobby, they don't add much to the cost of table decor and they always bring a smile!

This one has a simple red and white theme and it is so pretty! Not too fussy, just a few table decorations, your standard dinner and side plate/dinner and starter plate and a little table present. Perfect.

You could also add a little stocking to hold your cutlery like this one:

So cute! This would be a great addition to a kids table too!

So many different ways you can add little touches to really bring a table together, but I won't list anymore as this is getting pretty long, and i'm sure you don't want to see my endless list of christmas table decorations i've looked up! haha. Hope you like some of these ideas!

How do you decorate your Christmas table?

Inspired by Art: Designing a Room

Hey guys!

I was recently introduced to Invaluable and their huge range of paintings they have up for auction, and was told about a challenge to design a room around one of their pieces currently for auction.

I love home decor, and I don't get to decorate as much as i'd like so I thought i'd give it a go! (and it gives me an excuse to browse pinterest too!)

I chose The Waterlily Pond With Japanese Bridge, 1899 by Claude Monet. Though the theme of the room could work with any painting of a similar colour scheme :)

Here are a few of the things i'd put in my room!

I love corner sofas, so my room would have to have one! With a matching grey rug, grey chandelier and grey table. On top of the table i'd bring in the colours from the painting with a mint vase and fill it with white flowers, they don't have to be roses, just any white flowers really! Then mint throw pillows and a mint throw blanket!

I think it's important that you don't try to bring too many colours into your decor, if you stick to a couple of colours you can get a really clean, bold effect that looks quite elegant. I think a good tip would be, if you're designing a room around a painting, pick maybe two, maximum three colours from that painting and stick to those, even better if you pick one (such as mint) and then just do varying strengths of that one colour with grey or cream.

I actually really want to decorate my room grey and mint after this! When I move into my next house I think this is the colour scheme i'll be going with!

I had so much fun making this post (I love home decor), and it was great to be inspired by a painting to create the room. There are so many great paintings on auction over at Invaluable.com so if you click the link (here) you can take a look at them all!

I hope you find one that you love!

Home accessories

Hey!

If you don't like interior decorating, or buying products for your kitchen that you'll only use once, then you probably won't like this post. But, if like me, you love the little details, DIY and always want things for rooms that you haven't yet decorated, then this is the post for you!

I spend way too much of my time looking on Pinterest and Etsy and in stores like Laura Ashley picking things up and saving pictures of things that one day, i'm gonna put in my house. So I thought i'd share some of my favourites with you! :)

(I'll post some photos of my own in my next post, I promise!)

This one is not just actually one product but a whole shop on Etsy (great start Amylou) and it's The Lauren Collection. The different wreaths and cushions are just adorable, and the great thing about this shop is that they also tailor make things just for you, so you are getting something personal. These cushions are my absolute favourite:
RESERVED FOR JESSICA...Hello Handsome Good Morning Gorgeous 16"x16" Pillow Cover Set in Natural Linen
I always greet my boyfriend with hey handsome, and he always says hey gorgeous, so I kind of feel like I need these in my life.

Now this little decorating idea I can't trace back to it's original post! I found it on pinterest and it links to dotcomsformoms.com but when you click it, it says it has been removed. But I am in love so I will share it with you here:
playhouse under the stairs
Is that not the cutest little playhouse EVER? I feel like I need to live in a house with a staircase, for the sole purpose of building this.

I don't think this needs an introduction:
Soft serve machine. Yes please.
My own soft serve ice-cream machine?! I need this. It even has little compartments to put your toppings on! I don't believe you if you say you don't want this. You can buy it here from the Chef's catalog. You're welcome.

My last link is to another Etsy shop called Designs by Nicolina. She makes cards and quotes to hang on your wall and they are adorable and I want to buy them all. Show i'll show you a few! :)

Did I mention La Vie en Rose is my favourite song ever?! :)

Home decorating inspiration from Pinterest

Hey!
If you've ever been on pinterest, you'll know how addictive it is and once you start, you just can't stop.
I love looking up home decorating ideas, and although most of the rooms I find tend to be huge, it's nice to look at their colour schemes and accessories and then think about how you could adapt them into your own rooms. I thought as a change today i'd just share with you a few of my favourite ideas from pinterest for different rooms of the house! :)
BEDROOM
Beautiful bedroom
Ethan Allen - Romance Bedroom

I love this bedroom. (If you click the link above it will take you to the Ethan Allen website to buy all the items!) You may or may not know that duck egg blue is my favourite colour ever, and I love creams and gold tones for interiors, so this is perfect to me! I love beds that have loads of pillows and cushions, a total pain when making the bed but they always just look so good! For some reason I also love armchairs and delicate chairs in the bedroom, not for any real purpose, it's just something that I like to be there! Any room looks better with a huge bunch of flowers, real or fake, they just make it better!

Centsational Girl » Blog Archive » Bunk Beds for a Girl

I actually can't find the link for this one! :( but isn't it pretty! If I ever had little girls I would definitely want to do their room like this! Whilst bunk beds are great for saving space, and most kids love them I'm not really a fan of how they look usually, but these are beautiful! I love the cream and soft pinks and the pillows and duvet just look so soft! I know you can't tell from a photo if something is soft, but in my mind it is, so I want it! ha :)

KITCHEN

Cute kitchen
I don't know where this photo originated but you can see this along with similar designs on the Raising the bar blog :) I've visited the states quite a few times now, and as bad as it sounds, a meal is always more enjoyable in a booth! Especially one as pretty as this! They are a regular occurrence in the houses I've stayed in in Florida and I just think that they make a kitchen much more liveable and family friendly. This kitchen is cute whilst still being elegant, and I love it. The marble tops are beautiful. I'm not sure about the Perspex chairs I think i'd prefer some cream quilted stools to match the booth if I was doing it!
love the wood beam.
I found this kitchen here :) This is more of an traditional English kitchen than the last one. My friends have a table similar to this in their kitchen and it is wonky and bumpy and is just the best table! If you have exposed beams in any room of the house, you should definitely keep them! I have them going across the roof of my living room at the moment and they look so nice! It makes me so sad when people paint them or even worse cover them up! They just bring so much character! This kitchen also has an AGA oven which are just amazing, they are quite expensive to run as they are always on but because they are always on you can put food straight in with no waiting around, and they also heat up your whole kitchen, it makes the room so cosy! I miss having an AGA to cook with! Although it can be hard to control the temperature precisely so baking is interesting!
I think this post ended up being a bit of a long ramble so I'll probably leave it there for today! Do you like decorating inspiration posts like this? I might make some more for other rooms in the future! :)
What is your favourite thing to have in a kitchen or bedroom? Do you have any certain colour schemes that you always stick to?
Love, Amylou x
